went to this dragonboat racing welcoming thing today.. twas heaps good fun =) twas a lil slow goin at the start.. cos im heaps of a n00b, but once we got in the water.. it was good fun.. not nearly as painful as ppl make it out to be either =p i got completely soaked on one side and was almost bone dry on the other side... twas cos my technique was a bit off and i kept splashing myself.

afterwards we sat around and played a bit of ultimate frisbee.. and ate krispy kreme donuts =) for the record we won frisbee 13-4 =) it wsa quite ownage at the end.. we won the last 8 points in a row.. touchdowns i spose they are =p

.. and cos it was breezy and freezy i didnt notice that i had a rather severe sunburn *sigh*.. man i need to get to the beach =)

p.s. just to keep everything regular.. i fskd my ankle playing frisbee.. =p

hrm.. for the second time in my life ive had a phone call by some person who treatened to come around to my place and f*sk me up.. (in the bad way). some1 called my mobile at just after midnite.. and was saying how they were told to come and hurt me and damage my house..

went to the food n wine festival today at Hyde park.. one of few events i havent piked from in recent times =p and it was heaps good =) .. we got there early this year unlike last time.. so we got our pick of the food.. all sorts of gourmet dishes to choose from.. mm.. in the end i went for this peppered salmon steak from kobe jones.. soo tasty =)

we sat around in the park and had a mini-picnic sorta thing.. a lot of the kids were there.. it was one of the more pleasant afternoons ive ever had... also lingy said that i gave good massages.. which is a nice change since every1 else ive ever given a massage too has said they suck.. =p

today was pretty sketchy all around... which seems to be a common theme in recent weeks.. i dunno i guess ive hit the rookie wall or something.. i dunno whats wrong.. jsut feels wrong.. i look around for someone to hold me and say everything is going to be ok.. but no one is there.. *sigh*.. its one of those days..

jap class was ok though.... but its the second last class.. =(

.. in other news: i lunched with anna (the coffee cart girl) today.. i was late (as i tend to be nowadays) .. and she works out near the slip inn.. where theres no wheredecent to eat, so we jsut stopped at some coffee shop. twas good to catch up.. havent seen her for a fair while.. i cant remember when actually, so it must be ages. her job description is a "code librarian" .. hehe.. im still not sure what that means.. but when i told ppl at work.. we skewed for about half an hour argueing about how the dewey decimal system works =p

meh.. monday was teh boring.. my sister bought a 51cm tv off a friend for $50 =) .. it shall become the playstation tv .. mwhahaha.. but other than that.. i jsut played cs for a bit.. then got bored.

anyhoo.. at nige's he showed me this thing he is doin for work, its a GPRS thing which connects to a linux box.. which u remotely control to display ads and such. pretty cool, although its all very disorganised and he seems to be making it as he goes along, cos no one really knows thats going on =p

grace seems to think that if u have an unripe pineapple, what u do is soak it in salty water.. then soak it in sugary water.. and that makes it all better.. i dunno it that sounds right to me =p

jsut a bunch of kids sitting around teh park eating large amounts of cake and vodka jelly.. not much sporting action going on.. as u couldve guessed coming from anime ppl.. theyre not exactly what id describe as the athletic type.. but i that seems to be true of asians in general =p

afterwards we jsut sat around broadway and talked about whats going on in the world.. sheralyn did have this odd story about a boy she knew whose shoulders would dislocate everytime he sneezed.. cant help but laugh at that =p

basketball
meh.. i went out to my old school to play some basketball, and man i suck nowadays.. i cant do anything =p i was playing with some local kids there.. and it wasnt for the fact that i outjumped them all, they probly wouldve ownz0red me =p i kept getting close to the ring with good moves, but then just blowing the layup.. oh wells i still got a lot of blocks =)

.. in other news: on the way home i walked thru the bush, and walked in on a couple who were um.. dressing themselves.. eep! .. this was like on the path! and no more than 5m away from some1's back fence (i hope it was their back fence)

sometimes the world can be a very confoosing sorta place to live.. like today, i went to have lunch with a friend.. who i rarely see, and i bought her flowers cos its her bday on saturday. but unbeknownst (is that a word?) to either of us, her bf stopped by to suprise her.. and apparently he wasnt impressed. or so she said.. i coudlnt tell cos he didnt speak english =p but we went to lunch, and it was like uber weird.. although i couldnt help but find it a little bit amusing..

i guess i can see his angle though.. if i had a gf, and some guy was buying her flowers for her bday (which id forgotten) then i probly wouldnt be doin jumping jacks or nothing =p but on that note, im soo innocent.. twasnt like roses.. just some cheap orange tulips i grabbed on the way past cos i forgot to buy her a present =p but i guess its human nature to be suspicious of every1 all the time.. i know i always look around and think every1 is out to get me..

that was a sample of what i learnt in jap class last nite. its nearing the end of the class. quite sad really.. my jap isnt going too bad.. though i cant say im all that confident at covnersing... reading is ok, but im still pretty slow.

in other news: watashi no onaka ga itai desu (~ my tummy hurts). after losing volleyball i came back to work to get a drink, and the only things on offer were softdrinks or Oak vanilla malt.. and since im not a fan of softdrinks, i went for the milk. the problem is that i was some special 750mL for the price of 600mL.. thats 3/4 Litre of milk i drank.. and since i was pretty thirsy from 5 sets of volleyball.. is sculled it rather fast.. BIG MISTAKE!!... my tummy churned like cheap washing machine trying to stone wash some jeans. *clutches tummy* human stomachs are not designed to contain such amounts of flavoured milk =p

ian is a loser!! a three time loser to be precise.. today, in my third volleyball grandfinal we lost again!! .. thats 3 seasons, 3 grand finals.. and ZERO championships!! grr!!

we were undefeated this year.. yet in the final we choked like pikachu with a whole apple in his throat.. i think has a lot to do witht he fact that i was benched like every australian player ever in the NBA.. but it probly had more to do with our teams policy of always keepin out best setters on the court all the time.. in other words, keep the old guys (who coincidently happen to be the coaches) on all the time. i dont have anything against them, they are good, but neither of them can spike or block... and in mixed volleyball, that means 4/6 players on the court are sittin back waiting for a mistake by the other team. we need to beat the other team, that means spikes and blocks.. but sadly we jsut patted the ball over.. and waited for them to spike us out of the game.

and in the end, apathy is victorious.. i was pretty worked up last nite.. but why the hell for? cos some loser is telling ppl im a jerk? hardly worth get angry about.. i mean, i am a bit of a jerk anyways =p .. i wise man once said "he who angers u, conquers u". i think im a better person for letting this one slide. (that doesnt mean i dislike the guy any less though =p i mean forgiving is a lot easier than forgetting).

.. in other news: a friend of mine said she overheard some ppl on the train talking about what guys they thought we eligible guys around UTS.. one mentioned guy was "that ian chen guy from I.T." .. hrm.. i have no idea who those ppl were.. but whoever they were, i sure hope they were girls =)

i can honestly say, ive only been truly mad 3 times in my life... today that racked up to 4. i generally like to have self control... (or apathy) and not care when crap happens to me, but every now and then i get truly upset at how mean ppl are.

today i found out that some person has been saying a number of rather unflattering, and highly untrue statements about things i have said and done to a various others.... its quite disconcerting, that my supposed friends believed such trash though =(

im particularly angsty lately.. not really all that sure why.. its all an eclectical mix of various emotions and life experiences.. =p

angst isnt all that bad though.. its jsut been given a bad rap. i think too often angst is confused with depression, theyre not really the same thing.. just that angst often leads to depression. but u can be depressed without being angsty.. and u can be angsty without being depressed. i would say that atm im very angsty.. but not really depressed, is there a good kind of angsty? maybe not.. but there is certainy a not-so-bad kinda angsty. im more disillusioned than depressed.

Howard Hendricks once said "I never met a Christian who sat down and planned to live a mediocre life." i guess im sorta in fear of that atm.. not so much that im scared of being mediocre.. but itd be awfully dissappointing it i was =p ive always been a person who was riddled with potential.

The Bible says that we should have an answer for why we believe there is a God to those who ask you. This is a good example of an answer to one of the most common reasons sinners give for ignoring God and His goodness.

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him.

They talked about so many things and various subjects. Suddenly, they touched the subject of God. The barber said: "Look man, I don't believe that God exists as you say."

"Why do you say that?" asked the client.

the service at the place was terrible.. i wasnt nearly as drunk as i wouldve liked to have been. mainly cos it was only beer n wine.. and the waiters conviniently forgot about 2 out of every 3 orders..

didnt even do much afterwards.. just went to boring ole starbucks.. *yawn*
missed all of my trains yet again.. *sigh* .. stayed as the casa de la Tan yet again.. at my count that makes it my msot stayed at hotel outside of thornleigh.. =p

had lunch the next "morning" at 4pm.. (when i got up) at some thai place in newtown... then jsut went home to sleep some more and play DDR.. i smashed rikku's DDR mat.. literally. the up button wasnt working, so i was jumping on it.. and i missed, and smashed open the casing.. it wasnt pretty.. i should go buy a new one.

krispy kremes
i was gonna take a day off work today til some1 reminded me that it was krispy kremes day =p so i ended up heading to work anyways.. im like actually doing work and such now.. its very strange =p

spent the day eating krispy kremes.. after 3 they get pretty sickening ... but they smell soooo nice ..... then i made various errands running out to distribute the various orders from various ppl =p it seems i suddenly have a lot more friends when krispy kremes are on offer.. saw more ppl in one day that i have in the last month..

since i ordered the most boxes.. they put my photo in Currency (the internal newsletter) pretty funny.. jsut me and a huge stack of krispy kremes.. hehe..

skeleton crew
went around newtown shopping with hunt for some kinda funky suit for the ball.. i figure its gonna suck, so i may as well look like a goon =p sadly there wasnt much on offer.. the best was this maroon suit which looked pretty ok.. although it was kinda pricey for an op shop..

saw pirates of the carribean tonite.. twas pretty cool, kinda predictable though.. but heaps entertaining at least.. which is more than i can say for most movies ive seen this year.. i do recommend u go see it =) tis fun still..

seems anna' blog has gone awol.. but she put up a lil notice with various links.. she linked the word "disillusioned" to me.. which is quite appropriate considering how im pondering the world atm.. im not really sure im where i want to be.. and im not sure where i want to go from here...

thinking about moving out.. or even overseas.. maybe quitting my job.. and starting fresh in a new town with new ppl.. not sure yet, but it seems more and more apparent that theres nothing for me in this town.

last nite i literally blew a fuse! my heater shorted out.. and took out everything =p it wasnt pretty .. luckily my lil brother knew how to flip back the breaker.. cos i had no idea what i was doin =p

yawn.. *falls asleep*.. i had training all day today.. learning how to administer this server which produces web site statisitics.. number of visits and so forth. it was such a yawn.. the guy spent like 4 hours telling me what every option box and button does on the console.. *sigh*..

we bought this $31,000 piece of sh.. *cough* software.. ... and put it on a $12,000 dual 3Ghz Xeon server.. just to generate these webstats.. that where ur tax dollars are going ppl =p .. on top of that.. at about 3.. some1 from LAN dept accidently unplugged it from the network.. to steal its network plug for another server.. so dumb =p

in other news: i met up with jel after work for coffee and a snack.. she was at transmission on the weekend.. and she was still like in afterglow or something.. still pretty hyped up =p . *sigh* . /me remembers back to when i was young enuf to go to raves...

took my dad out to lunch for fathers day.. went to this quiant place in hornsby. it was nice enough.. then came home to watch the swannies =) they won!! so they go straight into the preliminary finals where they will play either brisbane or adelaide in Sydney =) *runs off to purchase tix*

.. in other news: i got an email advertising speed-dating! hehe.. basically in one night, u get to meet 10 ppl matching your criteria. you get to hang out with each one for 8 mins. sounds uh.. interesting.... although i wouldnt mind meeting some new ppl... *comtemplates* =p

anyhoos i went to hang out with the old schools today.. bowling at hornsby. after a preety good showing last time.. im back to sucking a lot =p i think i got something like 45 and 59 as my scores .... quite terrible ... twas good to see the kids again..

afterwards we headed to the local rsl.. *sigh* twas the most gheybo place on earth =p it was like uber-ghey westie seediness but poorly disguised as a "classy" place to hang. theres like a nice waterfall in the foyer.. to mask the fact that its basically just a mini casino where u like bump into those ppl from school who u hate.. and their parents =p

*sigh* ... the hayfever has begun! i feel terrible.. if i hadnt taken a couple of days off already, id take some days off work now.. the combination of nose bleeds and hayfever is not a pleasant one.

in other news: saying my nose bleed profusely today would be understatement.. it was literally pouring today.. between my desk and the bathroom (about 20m) i was trying to catch the blood in one hand.. but it overflowed!! omg.. this has to be the worst nose bleed ive ever had.. now i feel kinda woosy.. *falls over*

in other news: enetation (the providers of the lil comments under each post on my blog) are completedly fsked up.. they script is retarded or something.. it jsut keeps screwing up.. grr..

number of days since...
i was browsing some1's blog the other day (i cant recall whose) and they had this nifty javascripty thing on the side which listed the number of days they had obstained from certain things.. (such as having a cigarette) or been unable to do certain things (such as go surfing)... and also the record for longest streak for those things.

and i thought "what a novel idea" .. i think i shall do a similar thing.. not quite sure how ill go about it atm though.. probly jsut hack up some thing.. some things in my list would be; number of days since ive: had a drink, been snowboarding, watched anime, played cs, been sick, purchased a dvd, been to karaoke, been on a holiday, piked from an event, posted on my blog, updated my webcam, been stuck in a dead end government job... and so on.

ne1 got any other ideas of things for such a list?

tea, glorious tea
so anyways.. a cup of tea from the cafeteria at my work is 15c for a small cup, 30c for a large cup. there are many choices of different teas.. herbal, flavoured, scented.. all quite nice. lately ive been consuming very large amounts of tea.. probly more than is healthy.. so much so so, that the 15c per cup is kinda killing me.. so i finally brought a cup from home (a UTS Faculty of Science mug) and now im reeling in the benefits of free tea from the ST (systems and technolgy department) tea room. mm so warm.. soo tasty.. hehe =)
