honk if you're about to run me over
so we did the 7 bridges walk on Sunday, all 22kms of it. It wasnt all the bad really, it tooks us 6 hours though.. about 2 hours longer than i thought it would =p they gave us these lil passport things with a barcode that you scan at each checkpoint to show you went past there. and we were partially slowed down by the fact that the scanners were a bit sketchy and took about 80 scans to register each bar code. this left a bit of a logjam at each checkpoint which was almost not worth waiting in line for considering the reward is a pdf of a participation certificate =p

my knee held up ok thru both games.. but it was frustrating close to being 100%. there were times where the disc was literally on the tip of my finger, but i couldnt get it cos my knee was holdiong me back jsut that 5% of jump or run. its not painful anymore, but its restrictive, it jsut doesnt work like it used to. grrr
i think i played well in div2 and bad in div3. although i threw the best throw ive ever thrown, a half field hammer to the opposite back corner of the end zone. but it was dropped!! gah... no glory =p

... i couldnt publish.. and im too lazy to figure out how to change the date on this post... so the next part is written a few days later...

on tuesday, i got my Ls .. again. its pretty ghey how hard it is to get a car licence nowadays.. but i guess its all to keep n00bs off the streets. the log book has all these really trivial tasks which need to be signed off.. like "has licence available" and "enters vehicle". i spose someone somewhere needs assistance for those things =p

also played hills tonite.. only one game, which didnt really go that well. the other team was pretty stacked.. and i couldnt run enough to do anything about it. our team has gotten a lot better since i last played though. the beginners are starting the get much more of a feel for the game. stacking is still a bit of a problem =p

i think my knee is telling me not to run tommolo...

you win some, you lose some
jsut when i was starting to feel relatively upset about having to pay so much extra tax this year, i get the news that i have aquired 266 free shares of Alinta because i own AGL shares. the Alinta shares are worth about $2700! not bad considering i only own $7000 of shares of AGL.

anyways.. ive been reminded that i neglected to mention the Presidents concert last week. it was ok i spsoe, i wasnt really expecting that much.. but i didnt get less than i expected =p they were at least interesting on stage, so i guess it was partially becuase i couldnt mosh about due to my bad knee =( it was on Sunday nite at the venue formally known as the Metro. ill be damned if i know what the hell its called now. everyone still calls it the Metro. People are too lazy to learn new names, they jsut use the old names like the Superdome or Centrepoint.

on friday i went to the Meat and Wine Co. which is like next to Imax. It was very meaty (as you'd expect), even though i only had a burger and not a steak. i also had this weird blue cheese and vodka dip sauce for my chips, bizarre but quite tasty =) but if i ever went back there id get the Prawn and Beef Skewers for sure. i saw some guy on another table order it, and it looked spectacular =p Gus ordered the "Awesome Rack of Pork Ribs", prompting a flurry of comments involving passersby and if they had or should have the "Awesome Rack".

in other news: ive added a couple of links to my side menu. check em out if you're currently procrastinating..

death and taxes
so i went to two weddings on the weekend.. neither being mine =p im not sure how they ended up being on the same day, but i managed to squeeze in the ceremony of one before scurrying away to be just in time for the other. needless to say it was a long day, and renewed the barrage of reminders from my dear mother about how old my sister was when she got married (the same age as im about to be too old for).

nige's wedding was pretty nice, although the weather didnt really cooperate with us. at the reception i got a fair bit of time to meet his nephew Marshall (5 months) who was only really capable of grabbing hair and rolling on the ground.

i dont really know what to write about weddings, theyre all pretty much the same but with slightly different ppl. hopefully ill post some photos one day (maybe)

on monday nite i went out work peeps to play some $1 pool at the city hotel. it was nice, cept one of the tables had no white ball. We also grabbed some ichiban boshi .. mmm. Sydney is so dead on a weeknite its not funny, if i was someone who like partied hard, id be sorely disappointed =p

tuesday i went to Sugar Hit at the Observatory with Kallie, preceeded by laksa at that secret underground place. which is suprisingly closing down due to their lease running out. the sugar hit was probly my favourite so far "a trio of chocolate, pear and hazelnut sorbets, crowned with caramelised pear." which is jsut a fancy pants sundae, but still awesome. there actually was a lot more to it than that description implies. it had like lil biscuit bits and choc sticks, *droools*

today i did nothing...

its been one week since you looked at me
so another week.. another boring blog post about tedious life in the Public Service.

on both tues and wed, i made the dubious decision to play frisbee this week on my bad knee. it felt ok during the games, but afterwards it felt quite unpleasant. its not really painful anymore, its jsut sore and uncomfortable. i think the muscles around my knee are sore from overcompensating for the limpy-ness.

friday i was challenged in the rba snooker comp and had to play a round over that the Leagues. i started out pretty shakey, due to me fouling all the time (twice on the black).. but i came back strong at the end with a number of accidental snookers. and finally sealed the game when i was setup to sink the pink. *phew* im starting to possibly consider that i dont suck at this game as much as i previously thought =p im not sure what happens now, i was ranked 3rd, and the challenger was 6th. i guess i jsut stay 3rd. *shrugs* hardly seemed worth the effort =p

after snooker, we went on to attempt a double sugar hit with a dose of babimbab at World Square to kill time beforehand. the sugar hits were Park Hyatt and Sebel Pier One, the former being totally way much betterer than the latter. the Park Hyatt featured a Moscato which is apparently just a sparkling dessert wine. it was so good though, it was really light and sweet.. and just too easy to drink =p the other stuff "Chocolate and saffron infused poached pear; Milk chocolate and caramel crème brulee; White chocolate and coconut parfait" wasnt too bad either =) although the pear was a bit tricky to eat delicately =p the Sebel serving of "Dark chocolate pot with coconut ice cream and champagne strawberries" was a bit hard to stomach really, the strawberries being the best part, its definately not worth the hike out there.

*sigh* ill continue this post later when i can be bothered... and write something about the 2 weddings i went to yesterday .. *falls asleep*

its a hard knock life
im feeling rather terrible atm. not feeling particularly good enough to be up.. or blogging for that matter. but i soldier on, else ill jsut get way behind and probly give up =p

most of my week was ruined by a hyperextended knee which was obtained via a late nite skateboarding session last saturday at cherrybrook. i couldnt really walk so the weekend was pretty much a write off, as was frisbee this week (gah).

moving on to monday nite, where i caught up with k + k, for a bite to eat at ramen kan.. mm. one of the k's mentioned how she had jsut worked a month which involved 100 hours or overtime. wtf? thats an average of 25hrs over time each week.. thats like 4 standard days work extra in a week! or thats like..5 extra hours a day on average...thats like.. well u get the idea. =p

tuesday i went to frisbee and didnt play, resulting in my team winning both games =p

wednesday i didnt go to frisbee, and went to see the local production of Annie the musical. the girl who played annie was real good at the start, less good towards the end. miss hannigan was pretty awesome at acting.. but not so great at singing. the roast at the RSL was awesome too, since im not really the normal RSL type i dont get much =)

friday was a half day at work =) due to us moving desks from level 4 to level 2. apparently it takes half a day for removalist to move a box downstairs. we spent our half day at a number of different bars around the rocks area, starting with the Australian Hotel and some kangaroo pizza. it was the beginnings of what turned out to be a long nite. most of the nite was spent at andreas bday shindig, which was quite large and involved tons of ppl who i kinda-know and not many ppl i really-know. a lot of those were westpac ppl who i met from matt at some time or other but whose names had escaped me. they seemed nice at least and its always nice to see someone who remembers my name (even if ive forgotten theirs), although the conversations almost all started with .. "so.. do you work at westpac?".

a few drinks into the nite i snuck out for a bit with some frisbee ppl to go to Sugar Hit, jsut upstairs at the Sofitel. we had to wait 40mins, so we went back to the party for another drink or two before getting at the desserts. on enterring i noticed a bunch of ex-uts-anime peeps over in the corner. they got up and ran past me to go say hello to mon. *sigh*. they all were jsut as i remember them, but partially cos my remmebering isnt that detailed nowadays.

after that the part kicked on to some fuzzy parts of my memory, which involved a few more drinks and some really daggy dancing on the most part by me. part of it was at Blink, for some friday the 13th thing which had cool rock music, but mildy scary goths all over the place. it was fun, and painful at the same time as i think ive suffered head-banging related whiplash. id sorta forgotten what it was like to catch a nite ride home, other than its always pretty hazy. needless to say the next morning wasnt that fantastic for me, luckily i didnt really have anything planned for the first 17 hours of the day =p

im too lazy to write anymore detail than this.. i really shoudl learn to update at more regular intervals so the posts dont seem to tedious =p

we cant trust the sword of 1000 truths to a n00b!
work is the yawns again.. i had a few meetings with various ppl.. it wasnt that interesting really =p theres much talk around the place about who is going to be sent out to the disaster recovery site. already 4 of the 6 spots i wanted are taken. if i dont get the promotion out there itll be pretty ghey. more and more signs are telling me escape! if i cant get this promotion thats a rather solid indicator that im not getting one soon at all! *rolleyes* it might be an opportune time to runaway to the snowfields for a season.

i played 4 games of frisbee this week =) won by 7, won by 2, lost by 2, lost by 7. hehe.. at least its symmetical =p i got two foot blocks this week ^^; i played ok in all games.. good d.. and bad backhands as usual.

on thurs. i went ichiban boshi, kworld and Sugar Hit at the Sheraton on the Park. it was ok.. not the best one ive had. but it was quite tasty.. and the wine was way sweet. gah. it consisted of "Dessert plate of mini spring berry trifle, chocolate rum baba and little pavlova with passionfruit butter." mmm. and bookings are not as essential as the website leads you to believe =p

last nite i went to see Thank You For Smkoing. we wanted to see Monster House in 3D, but u cant use movie money for it and my other frens cheaped out on the $17 tix (eep). I was actually quite keen to see this anyways, it was clever and sorta what id expected. but it had like clever dialogue and characters as opposed to a clever storyline which kinda made it feel like it shoudlve been a tv show instead of a movie. it also moved a lil bit slower than i wouldve liked. overall it gets a luke warm 6.5/10

we ended the nite with dessert buffet, back at the Sheraton. gah! i need to go on a diet *throws up*. i made the fatal buffet mistake of going too hard at the start, which is worse at a dessert buffet, cos it makes you sick as well as full =p the sheraton is such a great place to hang out.. it has nice atmosphere, not too busy, good food/drink.. and only slightly overpriced =) i wish i was a big wig.. or a high flier.. so i could hang out in places like that all over the world =)

what happened to my saturday?
so.. this was just a long weekend.. and i managed to cancel trips to blackstump, camping at macmasters beach and canberra.. ghey! they all cancelled each other out.. and in the end i didnt do any of them *sigh*.

instead of anything as cool as going away.. i did a bunch of different things inside Sydney... or sorta in Sydney...

on friday i went burwood to see The Devil Wears Prada.. it wasnt that great. way too predictable.. and not all that interesting for me, maybe u need to be "into" fashion to get it and i have no idea why im wearing this Cerulean sweater...

one part of the movie i thought i was of note was what i like to call blasé-elitism. which is basically what the girl's (i forget her name) frens had. they were all like "we dont care about fashion and so we dont like you because you do now". they are blasé elitists because they think they are better than other ppl because of what things they dont care about. i think im a lot like that sometimes, i guess its a form of know-it-all-ism. i think i know better than everyone else, i jsut dont care enough to do anything about it, yet think less of them because they do care. That being said, even when i try and look at it objectively i still think im right =p

on saturday we went to Parra to watch the AFL Grand Final over some beers. it was painful!! if u havent heard or dont care we (the Swans) lost by 1 point. gah!! it was a good game but one point!! and we missed some easy ones in front of goal.. Barry Hall missed 2 that i couldve kicked, 30m out, practically right in front. man.. sometimes its tough to be a swans fan.

we wandered around parra for most of the day before and after, avoiding the temptation of Max Brenner multiple times. shopping wasnt that exciting, but we settled for dinner at this Indian place in Harris Park which was a bit unique, it was sorta like the place we went to in singapore, but less good. the food was ok though, and it was amusing to watch the Bollywood and indian pop videos they had showing on the big screen there.

saturday i jsut went and did some shopping locally. i picked up a sweater/jumper thing at the Myer sale. and also some basketball shorts and a AND1 tshirt at Footlocker. i think i sorta got sucked in by the 2 for $50 signs, and bought some stuff i didnt heaps need =p

sunday we went to the Blue Mtns to look have a go on various other adventures. We went to Scenic World.. which is the Scenic Railway + some other new things. the actual railway part is a lot steeper than i remember, i almost slid right off my seat. but the walkway part is much more elaborate now than last time i went (which was when i was in primary school). it was nice to get out and about in the mountains, i always forget how nice it is there (even though id been there jsut a few weeks ago with family). also we had some tasty food, including Devonshire tea (yum).

on the way back we ate at li'l vietnam aka Cabramatta and i still dont like viet food =p
