toothless joe
hrm.. a week between posts again... how did that happen? i guess i was busy. today im off work cos i had to go to the dentist. my teeth are the way bad. apparently all my wisdom teeth have cavities. today he pulled one of them.. and will do the rest later. my mouth is still numb.. the procedure went something like this

dentist: does this hurt?
ian: zOMG! u can imagine the pain
dentist: ok heres so more local anaesthetic, how about now?
ian: gahhh!!! so much pain..
.. then repeat about 7 times.

... i wonder if i can put this down as a sick day isntead of an RDO...

*flashback*
last thursday i stayed at my sisters place so we could get up early for the socceroos game. but beforehand i went to drinks for Enno who is off back home to Germany, and in some randomness i bumped into this guy brett hobson, whom i went to primary school with. but hadnt seen in about 6 years. he knew a girl at this thing from someplace =p he is way taller than i remember, back in school he was like the only guy shorter than me..

moving on.. i got up at 4-ish for the game and decided to goto circular quay knowing we'd only miss the first 5mins of the game. but we didnt realise we'd miss the first goal =p grrr. there was so many ppl there despite it being freezing cold. ppl were so abusing when croatia scored, yelling out such things as "they paid the goalie a million to throw the game"... but it was pretty rockin when we drew, ppl went crazy all over the place. we even saw ppl dancing int he fountains, wearing little more than boardies and an australian flag... brrr.

on the weekend i took my scooter out to the Shire. man thats a long way... and so cold too. i hung out with the southies for a bit and ate cake and played the new Buzz trivia game. i won a few of the games.. but it kinda got old pretty fast as the questions kept repeating. so it was all about speed, since we'd all seen the qns before.

sunday i played the midwinter solstice which is a one day frisbee tourney. it was prety good, my lungs were really bad.. i was coughing so much i could barely stand. at the end of the day we came 5th.. which is ok. but we won the award for winning the most spirit games =) i got this plush frog, which croaks when u push its belly ^^

monday i went to a horrible day at work, end users hurt my brain. i cant even count the number of changes ive made where they ask for it.. then after i build it they go "actually i like it better how it was before" .. then they complain about how its taking so long. and im like "well stop asking for changes then!" .. *sigh*

afterwards at frisbee.. i kinda hurt myself quite bad when someone (my teammate) stepped on my ankle in the first game. but then in the second game i hurt my elbow on a lay out. hrm. in the second game, whilst down by heaps, we played disrespect defence, which is where we pull the disc. then only one person (me) plays defence. everyone else jsut camps out in the endzone. and it worked! barely. they got the disc all the way to the endzone, then one of their girls dropped a simple pass =p but it still technically worked =p

dont be so tired of this life
so last friday was the last of many farewells for my web tech sidekick mike who is off fora whole year (one of about 80 farewells he had). but first, another less dramatic farewell for phil, who is going away to lie in the sun for work for a couple of months.
started at roofbar with some of the regular friday nite crew, and bumped into many other friday nite randoms who seem the frequent the various bars of the cbd. i scored a free massage.. but somehow couldnt manage to get on the good end of a round going anywhere =p this party was populated by many of those ppl who i kinda know, but dont really know well enough to go up to and buy a drink for without it being weird. i did a lot of "oh hi, i vaguely remember you from uni" followed by looking around awkwardly and sipping my beer. but i guess thats ok in moderation =p

onwards to cargo for some drunkedness.. but not really by me. some of the others though.. totally wasted! to the point of mildly amusing.. but not to the point of rather embarassing =) i also bumped into Pablo there.. and separately Phuong (who was totally trashed at the time). it kinda made me think that outside of frisbee.. i see uni frens like never.. ill get around to fixing that sometime.. its on my todo list, i swear.

on the weekend i went to frisbee training.. which was a bit subdued.. but still ok to run around a bit. afterwards we went to the fish markets.. where i got shortchanged by the guy for the end o day special. (i was too lazy to go back to argue).

on monday i had a doubly victorious day at frisbee. we won our first div2 game (yay) and i played heaps well. easily my best game in div2 to date. i was a bit lucky though.. cos i got beaten by some guy running long 3 times.. and all 3 he dropped the disc (phew) hehe. i was catching pretty much everything.. and throwing at a tolerable level for once =p

we also won div3 in the battle of the nuts: mixed vs plain. mixed was victorious of course =) i was pretty lazy the whole game.. i think i was just so happy to win in div2 that i wasnt really playing much attention div3 =p we won by heaps and i didnt really do much.. which is good and bad i spose.

atm my tooth hurts so much i cant explain it in plain text.. or even html for that matter. i think i can see cavities with the naked eye.. which cant possibly be a good thing. ill call a dentist tommolo.. i swear.

still not much going on. ive been shopping around for a new quilt cos i keep waking up freezing cold in the morning. brrr. i was kinda sold on wool. but the ratings on the front say that this microfibre thing is warmer.. supposedly. it feels nicer too.. so i dunno what to do =p i think my current one is wool.. and its not good at all.
anyways, tonite i went to buy one and came home with a jacket =p its like mooks.. but it looks like the indiana pacers logo. like the old one.. so i feel associated with reggie rather than.. uh.. jermaine =p

lately ive either been leaving work like on the dot at 5.. or staying to some crazy hour.. like 6:30. for no real reason. i think i jsut lose track of time, id forgotten wat its like to work hard =p

in other news: does anyone remember when i used to post on this blog everyday? seems like so long ago...

so we jsut had a long weekend.. and i achieved nothing =p tenny came over really late to watch the French Open final on sunday nite/mon morning. and federer didnt even win =p in the morning we managed to play virtua fighter for a few hours.. and play some frisbee obstacle course with nige. which is basically like disc golf, but u have to like go around and thru overstacles instead of towards the goal. not particularly suprisingly, i came last in both games! i suck so much at the throwing.

the next nite i stayed up to watch the socceroos (like everyone else in Australia), i was so about to go to bed at about the 70th minute.. lucky i stuck it out 15 mins more =p but i didnt manage to get 2 nites in a row with sub 5 hours sleep.. yay =p

today i had lunch with julia, who happened to be in town from the ever remote adelaide. she is like a doctor now almost.. i wonder if they all act like the ppl on Scrubs =p

lately ive been having a craving for raw carrots. like all the time. i had a few ont he weekend.. and theyre like totally tasty, i cant get enough. mm.. *turns orange*

we had a work lunch yesterday cos mike is escaping to travel the world. *jealous*. we went to this place which was like a pimped out bbq place. it was like fittign out pretty swish.. but the food was jsut some randomness cooked on a regular bbq on a balcony =p

we went for drinks as usual after work. rooftop, 333, ichiban boshi. it was pretty cool, i think ive sorta found the drinking rate where i can drink a lot, but not be wasted. =p which is a good place to be.

i was meant to go out tonite to 2 different things. but ive been a dirty piker, cos its pouring rain outside.. and trains on both lines are out. which means its totally not worth getting sick for, since im still only about 70% recovered from last week's illness =(

so my friend was telling how its obvious a girl likes me cos she isnt nice to me. huh? apparently when i girl isnt nice thats a form of flirting. wtf? and ppl wonder why im so confoosed all the time =p

work has been pretty hectic. one guy is leaving at the end of the week.. so im getting all these loose ends dumped on me. which would normally be a good thing.. but i actually have work that im busy with (what a scandal). and ive still been pretty ill, i was struggling to breathe yesterday.. *sigh*

so this week i was more than once asked about my lack of a better half. and after many blog posts about this subject, i kinda thought i had a good spiel. but its wearing a bit thin.. i am awfully settled now .and it has been a long time.. maybe i do need to build a bridge.. i guess ill have to think about it a bit more.. i guess finding some sort of female companionship could be a good idea. now if only they werent so confoosing =p

well i was at home sick today.. boo. luckily frisbee was rained out, so i didnt miss a game =) its so cold in my house.. brrr...

i didnt really achieve much cept crawling up into a ball in front of the heated and sneezing a lot. but i did finish my other entry for the calendar comp. i dont like this one was much. i like the characters.. but it looks really poorly put together, probly cos it is =p also the dreaded CMYK has ruined all my colors =(

seems like its been forever, since you've been gone
so.. not much going on really. im horribly sick today. sick enough to miss basketball. i cant even remember the last time i missed any sporting event cos of sickness. i tend to play even when im sick/injured =p

so.. its been a time between posts again.. im not really doing much. ive been doing a lot of drawing of late. such as this entry for the anime club calendar comp., im getting much faster and inking stuff using my tablet now.. but im still heaps n00b at post-production.. i guess i can only practice =)

yesterday i was helping cam move.. he is now in this crazy big place. we could have the most awesome LAN parties ever there... if ppl were still into LAN parties =p its got 4 bedrooms.. but also a study.. and 2 lounge rooms and a massive kitchen/dining area. im a bit jealous.. but at the same time i woudnt make any use of the space.. id jsut sit in the study and be a nerd learning ruby on rails or something =p

on friday it was tina's bday.. at the vault (where i also had my bday last yr). it was a pretty good night after i got there.. but before i was with some work ppl.. and it was pretty fsked up. there was one guy who was on e (which he took in the office at 3) and there was this other girl (friend of a friend) who was totally wasted and abusive to everyone. they were both creeping me out big time. i wasnt sure whether to try and help them or try to run away. ppl get so weird on a friday nite.. jsut ruins it for everyone.

.. also i watched Xmen3 last week. the first movie ive seen in like 6 months. im rather picky about movies nowadays, cos they all tend to suck these days. this one was.. uh.. ok. it wasnt nearly as epic as the trailer.. but it wasnt as woe as everyone kept telling me. lots of ppl have said "theres no story" and to that i say "ur an idiot". cos there is a story.. i dunno why they say such things. what it lacked was suspense.. and it wouldnt have hurt to have a bit more character development. the story was ok.. it jsut needed to be built up more. they jsut kinda had an idea.. then just assumed u could figure out why ppl did stuff. which i could figure out, but isnt the point =p
